Q: Which of your schools am I looking for?

Continuing Education – This is the place if you are an adult interested in graduating, upgrading or improving your skills, including ELL and numeracy courses.

The Link – A grades 9-12 distributed learning school offering  online options for a variety of grades and courses. Students can work at home on their own schedule, while still being able to access a teacher to help with the curriculum.

Alt Ed – School District 61’s alternative secondary school, where students in grades 9-12 are offered a supportive and flexible learning environment.

How do I register?

It’s easy! Fill out the registration forms on this page. Bring them into our office, or scan and send them to ce@sd61.bc.ca When you come to register, please also bring proof of citizenship (eg. passport, birth certificate, permanent resident card, etc) and proof of address (eg. driver’s licence, BCID, utility/phone bill, etc). If you are new to our building, an ESL learner, or need help choosing courses, we recommend you call to book an appointment with our academic counsellor.


What courses do I need to graduate?

Depends if you are a regular grad, or an adult grad (only available to those 18 years of age or older). However, call the office at 250-360-4300 to book an appointment with our academic advisor who can go over your transcript with you.


I need a Transcript. How can I get one?

If you are a current student who requires an official transcript, please email ce@sd61.bc.ca with your request. Please allow 3 business days.

If you want to look at your unofficial transcript, please log in to the Ministry of Education’s School Secure Web.  For further information on obtaining transcripts, see this page. 


How do I get my refund?

To get your refundable text book deposit, make sure all your textbooks have been resubmitted, call 250-360-4300, or send an email to ce@sd61.bc.ca to request a refund.


How long do I have to complete my course?

We encourage students to complete their courses within one calendar year. However, exceptions are made in extenuating circumstances.


What are the fees for courses?

I have 2 jobs and work shifts.  Do you have a program that will suit me?

Our learning centre is open 10:30-5:00 Monday & Wednesday and 1:30-8:00 Tuesday & Thursday.  Although you are encouraged to be on-site with a teacher as much as possible, you may also complete work at home and bring it in. However, if those hours still don’t work for you, perhaps look into courses at The Link, which you can do fully from home on a computer.


I want to go back to school and don’t know where to begin.  Can you help me?

Sure! Book an appointment with our academic counsellor by calling 250-360-4300. She will help look at your past schooling, and your future plans and put together some goals for you.


I am from another country.  Can you help me improve my English skills?

Yes! Our Literacy Foundation courses are for students looking to improve their English, or eventually enter academic programming. All students must be landed immigrants or Canadian citizens. International students with appropriate authorization from the International Student Program may be eligible.


Do you offer prerequisites for college or university?

Yes. We offer a variety of courses which satisfy requirements for college or university pre-requisites.


I graduated in another country. Do I have to pay $750?

Yes.

How do I register?

It’s easy! Check out courses online. Complete the initial assignment (where applicable), and submit it, along with your registration form to our office. See this page for more details.


What are the fees?

Non Graduated Students, or School Age Graduates: No fee required (though there may be a resource deposit).

Graduated Adults: $600 if you are a Graduated Adult taking a non-tuition free upgrading course.

International Students: $750

How long do I have to complete the course?

We ask that students finish the courses within one calendar year (exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances).


Will I be able to meet with my teacher if I need it?

Yes! Our teachers will be able to book occasional appointments with you if you require extra help, or in-person explanation.


Are these the same courses as at a regular high school?

All of our courses follow the BC Ministry of Ed Curriculum. 


If applying to university or college is the transcript sent, or do I need to come get a copy?

No it is not sent directly, you need to submit the transcript yourself. Please email thelink@sd61.bc.ca with your request. Please allow 3 business days.
